Zarah Sobhraj Gupta is an American Speech-Language Hearing Association (ASHA) certified Speech and Language Pathologist (SLP). She is licensed to practice in New York state as well as Massachusetts state, and holds her license to practice in schools in both NY (Teacher of Students with Speech and Language Disabilities) and MA (Speech, Language, and Hearing Disorders Teaching License).
Zarah has gained experience working in a variety of therapeutic and educational settings. These include a NYC independent school with an inclusion model (The IDEAL School of Manhattan), a NYC private special education school for children with language-based learning disabilities (The Parkside School), private practices, and the Brookline Public Schools (MA). In Massachusetts, Zarah owned a private practice and treated children ages 2-16, as well as consulted with local preschools (e.g. Children's Happy Day School).
Zarah's clinical experience includes working with children with a variety of communication diagnoses and disorders, in the preschool and school age years. These include: articulation, autism, fluency, language, literacy, phonology, voice, and pragmatic language.
Zarah has trained in a variety of programs to incorporate into her therapy. Some of these include, Michelle Garcia Winner's Social Thinking Program; Judith Hochman's Teaching Basic Writing Skills; Wilson's Fundations reading program, and Reading with TLC's Lively Letters Program.
Zarah believes in creating a therapeutic environment that is motivating and enjoyable for all children. She strongly believes in collaborating with a variety of people who are a part of the child's life to establish common language and goals to best support the child's communication development. She is also an advocate for developing a child's ability to self-advocate as they mature. Zarah is a creative and resourceful therapist, who thoroughly enjoys working with children and their families to develop their communication skills.
Manhasset Speech & Language Therapy is based in Manhasset, New York and works with families on Long Island in the surrounding neighborhoods, such as, but not limited to, Manhasset, Roslyn, Great Neck, Port Washington, New Hyde Park, Albertson, Jericho, Syosset, Westbury, Carle Place, Valley Stream, Garden City, and Rockville Centre.
